The BBC is reviewing its mobile TV strategy ahead of the end of a 12-month UK trial, during which it streamed shows from BBC One, BBC Three and BBC News 24 on Orange, 3 and Vodafone. The broadcaster is “closely analysing” the results of the trial which is due to end in March, says New Media Age (NMA). Although the report says the service appears to have proved popular, the BBC has still not informed operators of whether it intends to continue offering the services.

Orange says the simulcast BBC service has over 27% audience share on the carrier’s portal. Talking to NMA, the mobile operator says the service has “led to tremendous growth in subscriber numbers, so much so that revenue from mobile TV is almost double the forecast.” Meanwhile BBC Three recently announced that it would re-launch its digital TV channel to let content move seamlessly between TV, online and mobile platforms.
