Justin manages the editorial content for the Mobile World Live portal and award-winning Mobile World Live TV service. In the last few years Justin has launched and grown a portfolio of premier media products, which include the Mobile World Congress Show Dailies (Mobile World Daily), the daily e-newsletter Mobile Business Briefing and the Mobile Apps Briefing news service (these latter two are now integrated within Mobile World Live). He started his career in telecoms journalism in 1999 as deputy editor of Mobile Europe. Steve works across all of Mobile World Live’s channels and played a lead role in the launch and ongoing success of our apps and devices services. He has been a journalist and editor specialising in the telecoms industry since 1996. Steve has worked for a number of publications in staff and freelance roles, previously working with market intelligence provider Market Mettle covering topics including smartphones, mobile value added services and operator strategy. Joseph joins Mobile World Live as the editor for its new Asia channel. Before joining the GSMA, Joseph was group editor for Telecom Asia for more than ten years. In addition to writing features, news and blogs, he drove the overall editorial strategy for the flagship print publication as well as regular print/online supplements and newsletters. He successfully guided the publication through a shift in business model, as the majority of Telecom Asia’s advertising revenue became generated from online services rather than print. He has worked for more than two decades in Asia as an editor for business publications and websites, with experience at a web startup in 2000, R&D Magazine, Global Sources and the Bangkok Post. @telecomwaring
Diana joins Mobile World Live as its new US Editor, reporting on infrastructure and spectrum rollouts, regulatory issues, and other carrier news from the US market. Diana comes to GSMA from her former role as Editor of Wireless Week and CED Magazine, digital-only publications focused primarily on the US wireless and cable/wireline markets. She also has prior experience writing for two local newspapers and working in the editorial departments at Princeton University Press and Penn State University Press. Chris joined the Mobile World Live team in November 2016 having previously worked at a number of UK media outlets including Trinity Mirror, The Press Association and UK telecoms publication Mobile News. After spending 10 years in journalism, he moved to telecoms PR as a content specialist producing white papers and marketing collateral for some of the biggest names in the mobile sector. Kavit joined Mobile World Live in May 2015 as Content Editor. He started his journalism career at the Press Association before joining Euromoney’s graduate scheme in April 2010. Here, he gained vast experience reporting on telecoms and technology for Capacity magazine, leaving the publication as news editor in November 2014 after more than four years. Saleha joined Mobile World Live in October 2014 as a reporter and works across all e-newsletters – creating news content, blogs, and conducting TV interviews. Previously, she worked as a content editor at Contentive, a digital publishing agency, where she was in charge of several news portals, including Digital by Default News and Shale Energy Insider. At Contentive Saleha managed launch of the portals and was responsible for the rapid growth of their subscriber bases. Before that, she worked at one of Pakistan’s major national newspapers, The Express Tribune, as a senior sub-editor on the Opinion desk. Michael doesn’t want to admit that he has been a journalist and editor for close to 20 years covering a diverse set of subjects including shipping and shipbuilding, fixed and mobile telecoms, and motorcycling. He joins Mobile World Live as sub-editor following several years as a freelancer, during which time he worked as the managing editor for Fierce Markets’ European wireless newsletter and editor on TelecomsEMEA.net (published by Questex Asia), and produced a range of feature articles and reports covering sectors including connected cars, IP Exchange (IPX), premium rate services and mobile ticketing for companies including Telecom Asia, mobileSquared and Netsize. Michael previously held various roles as reporter and editor with Informa Telecoms & Media, and as a reporter on Motorcycle News (MCN) – the UK’s largest and oldest weekly motorcycling newspaper. @M_J_Carroll
Rick joined the GSMA in 2004 to manage the organisation’s research services. After taking over the publishing of the Mobile World Congress Show Daily (Mobile World Daily) in 2007, he and Justin launched the GSMA’s digital news service, Mobile World Live (then called Mobile Business Briefing). In addition to Mobile World Live, Rick is responsible for a number of the GSMA’s commercial operations including GSMA Intelligence and coverage mapping services. He has worked in technology marketing and publishing for over 25 years for organisations including McCann Erickson, Grey Advertising and DigitasLBi, specialising in the telecommunications sector.
Christine joined Mobile World Live in December 2016. She is responsible for Mobile World Live’s commercial operations globally and for providing media solutions across our growing portfolio of products. She has more than 15 years of sales experience, with extensive experience in publishing (8 years), particularly in the telco space. Prior to joining Mobile World Live, Christine was Sales Manager at SJP Media, representing Mobile Europe and European Communications. She is always able to provide integrated media solutions and deliver effective marketing campaigns to meet clients’ ROI marketing objectives.
Amanda joined the Mobile World Live team in Autumn 2016 as Project Manager. Her role entails working with clients, editorial, marketing, and commissioned journalists to manage the commercial products we host on our site. Amanda has been working in entertainment and medical communications for six years. She has worked on public relations campaigns in New York City for the Britto Agency, and planned logistics at Miller Knapp Medical Communications. Most recently she was an executive meeting planner for a medical communications company in Atlanta (Aptitude Health) where she worked closely with pharmaceutical companies to spread awareness about different disease states and products coming to market. She also hosted certified medical education and commercial medical ad board meetings. She also served in the United States Army for eight years prior to entering the professional realm.
Georgina joined GSMA in 2015 as Director of Media and Platforms Marketing. Her role covers strategic marketing for Mobile World Live and other GSMA platforms. Georgina has over 20 years of senior marketing experience gained within global media, publishing and technology businesses. Most recently Georgina mentored technology and publishing start-ups with their marketing and brand development, and prior to this she held senior strategic marketing roles at large global publishers including Reed Elsevier, Thomson Reuters, and Macmillan Publishing Group. Georgina is passionate about new technologies and driving media brands forward. She holds an MA in Publishing.
Martin joined Mobile World Live in November 2016 as Digital Marketing Manager. His role covers digital marketing channels such as Pay-Per-Click, email, display advertising etc.. Martin brings more than 12 years’ experience in digital marketing, having worked at Ladbrokes, Which? Magazine and HSBC, covering all digital marketing channels, as well as driving the strategy forward. He most recently was co-founder of a startup consultancy focused on digital marketing strategies which ran for about 18 months. Martin is Swedish, attended university in the US, and has lived in London on and off for over 10 years.
Trevor has worked for the GSMA for 18 years and has over 27 years’ experience within the marketing and communications sector. He started at GSMA as ‘webmaster’ designing and developing all online materials as well as handling all company related I.T. matters. As Digital Director, his role includes responsibility for the definition and technical direction of the Mobile World Live products, including webinars, live streaming events and mobile applications. Trevor’s responsibilities also include management of external partnerships for the development of Mobile World Live. Trevor is a qualified Electronics Engineer to BEng (Hons) degree. @trevorskinner
Jacquie Luscombe produces extraordinary audience experiences through live events, television broadcasts, video and web. Her creativity and leadership skills have made her one of the most sought-after production professionals in Canada, with a client roster that includes Microsoft, Pfizer Canada, KPMG, and other members of North America’s corporate elite.In recent years Jacquie’s talents have led her overseas and around the world. She is currently the Executive Producer for Mobile World Live and Mobile World Live TV which broadcasts live from Mobile World Congress. Jacquie began her career as a television producer, but later transitioned into corporate video and corporate events, earning a role as a team leader at ICE (Integrated Communications and Entertainment), then Canada’s largest full-service communication agency.
Sharon has almost two decades of experience in publishing and events, most recently serving as Project Manager (for seven years) for the GSMA’s various major exhibitions (including Mobile World Congress). Her new role as Production Manager for the GSMA’s Mobile World Live (MWL) service sees her take these first-class organisational skills into the planning, delivery and execution of all video elements for MWL. Sharon started her new role in September 2017 but is no stranger to MWL – her previous Project Manager position at the GSMA saw Sharon play a key role in the delivery of Mobile World Live TV and the production of the Broadcast Village at many Mobile World Congress events. Prior to her career at the GSMA Sharon also spent seven years at event and publishing business EMAP, across awards, conference and exhibition delivery.
