Reuters reports that Apple has issued a software update for the iPhone 3G device to help fix connection problems that led to complaints from around the world. T-Mobile told Reuters that the software was available for users to download to their iPhones yesterday, but that it was not yet clear if the upgrade would fix all the connection problems. The device – which has gone on sale in about 22 countries since launch on July 11 – sold one million units in its first weekend of launch and is tipped to sell 4.47 million in the current quarter.

Meanwhile, Russian operators VimpelCom and MegaFon are expected to secure the domestic rights to carry the iPhone, with a deal due as early as this week, reports Russian business paper Vedomosti. The report says that at least two of the top three Russian mobile operators may carry the device. VimpelCom and MegaFon are the second and third largest operators, respectively, behind MTS. News of the Russian talks come in the same week that Turkish operator Turkcell announced it will carry the phone. The move will make Turkcell the second Turkish supplier after Vodafone, which will distribute the device in Turkey and nine other global markets. Apple previously stated that it hopes to have iPhone deals in place for the Russian and Chinese markets by the end of the year. Last week Dow Jones Newswires reported that talks between Apple and China Mobile are ongoing. In India, Vodafone Essar and Bharti Airtel plan to launch the 3G device on Friday, according to Reuters.
