IDG News Service reports that Sanjay Jha, CEO of Motorola Mobility, had said that 70 percent of devices returned to the company came back because of performance issues related to apps. Jha noted that “for power consumption and CPU use, those apps are not tested. We’re beginning to understand the impact that has.” It was said that Motorola sees its Motoblur software being able to monitor third party apps to learn which apps are not optimised, and that in time it will be able to warn users when this is happening – the user can then decide whether to continue using the app, or to conserve power.
