Plans for the auction of 20-year 3G licenses in India have been further detailed, according to India’s Business Standard, notes a TeleGeography report. The most recent decisions by the DoT include the allocation of one block of 3G spectrum in each region, bar Delhi and Mumbai, to BSNL. The cost to the state-owned company will be the same price as the highest bid for those respective areas. MTNL, the other state-owned telco, will also have blocks reserved for it, one in each of Delhi and Mumbai, and again will be required to match the highest bid for the blocks. Reserve prices for the auctions have also been set, ranging from US$6.9 million to US$37 million.
