Chinese local information and discount platform Dianping has said it now has 40 million unique users for its mobile apps, a four-fold increase compared to a year ago.

Dianping.com and its free Android and iOS mobile apps have combined monthly page views of more than 1.2 billion, with 60 percent of those coming from the apps.

The platform provides information on local restaurants, shops and entertainment as well as discounts and customer reviews, customised to the user’s preferences. The latest versions of the apps added booking, payment and membership card functionality.
