The increasing availability of LTE networks around the world will boost demand for LTE-enabled mobile devices, with analyst group In-Stat forecasting that more than 154 million devices will be shipped in 2015. In-Stat analyst Chris Kissel said LTE network capacity will need to keep pace with the amount of LTE-enabled devices, with a total of 290 million LTE subscriptions predicted by 2015.

In its Q3 results announcement today, mobile network equipment vendor Ericsson said that, in five years time, it is expected that LTE will have roughly the same population coverage as WCDMA/HSPA technology has today.
