Healthcare will be one of the markets that will attract developers to Google Glass, according to Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Google Ventures.

The three venture firms have formed what they call the Glass Collective to invest in developers who are buildings apps for Google’s wearable computing device.

A number of markets were mentioned by the venture firms, although healthcare featured strongly.

Marc Andreessen said Google Glass could have a future with surgeons and patients (in addition to its high potential for interactive gaming), according to Techcrunch.

Google Ventures’ Bill Maris highlighted how disabled people could communicate more easily via text, using the glasses, said AllThingsD. John Doerr, general partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, reiterated the general applicability to healthcare.

And Google’s Sergey Brin mentioned tracking his heart rate among the tasks which he has used his glasses.

Google Glass will become more widely available later this year.
