The global smartphone market will double in size by 2016 to reach shipments of 653 million, according to a new study by Ovum. The research firm says Android will be the dominant OS, leading rival iOS by 20.5 percent on market share. Asia will be the leading smartphone market in 2016 with shipments of 200 million, ahead of Western Europe (175 million) and the US (165 million).
