Sony has said it is planning to hit sales of JPY1.8 trillion (US$22.2 billion) for its mobile business in its 2014 financial year, with “significant profitability improvement.” The company also plans to integrate R&D, design engineering and sales and marketing for its smartphone business with the Sony Tablet and VAIO divisions to boost efficiency and reduce the time to bring products to market. The announcement was part of its restructuring plan, which will see the loss of 10,000 jobs across the company.
