RIM has announced two new BlackBerry smartphones running its most recent BlackBerry 7 operating system, the BlackBerry Curve 9380 and BlackBerry Bold 9790.

The BlackBerry Curve 9380 (pictured) is the first Curve device to feature all-touch controls. The device has 3.2 inch high-resolution touchscreen, a 5MP camera and social network apps (including BlackBerry Messenger). The premium BlackBerry Bold 9790 features a high resolution touchscreen display as well as a physical keyboard. It uses a 1GHz processor and includes 8GB of storage, which can be expanded to 32GB.

“We think many customers will be thrilled by the faster performance, beautiful touch displays and compact designs available with these new BlackBerry 7 based models,” said RIM senior VP for handheld product management Carlo Chiarello.

Both phones have built-in support for augmented reality and near field communications and will be available to buy in the coming weeks, according to RIM.

RIM announced in October that it is set to combine features from the BlackBerry 7 OS with the QNX OS used on the company’s BlackBerry PlayBook tablet computer to create the next generation OS, BBX.
