Germany’s network regulator said yesterday that it will significantly lower the rates mobile operators can charge each other to connect calls, in line with European Commission targets, in a move that will put further pressure on their revenue, according to a Dow Jones Newswires report. The regulator, Bundesnetzagentur, said that, effective December 1, KPN’s E-Plus can charge EUR0.0333 and Telefonica’s O2 can charge EUR0.0337 a minute. Previously, the rates were EUR0.0714 a minute for both providers. Deutsche Telekom now can charge EUR0.0336 and Vodafone Group can charge EUR0.0333 a minute, both down from the previous rate of EUR0.0659 a minute.
