Mobile operator SK Telecom has launched M-prescription, a mobile application that is designed to supplement paper prescriptions. The operator says the service is more convenient for patients by enabling them to manage their medical prescriptions in their smartphones. The service also provides access to detailed information on the medicines patients are taking. The M-prescription app is available from SKT’s own T Store, the Android Market and Apple’s App Store. It is free of charge.

Patients store prescriptions in the app by entering an ID from the paper-based prescription into their smartphones. They then collect their prescriptions by presenting the electronic version on their smartphone at a pharmacy. M-prescription is available of 65 percent of hospitals in Korea at launch and 24 percent of pharmacies. SKT is demonstrating its new application at Mobile World Congress.
