State-owned Indian telco BSNL has revealed that it plans to enter into direct talks with Zain to acquire a controlling stake in the Kuwaiti firm if the Vavasi-led consortium fails to clinch a deal, reports TeleGeography. At present, Delhi-based group Vavasi is in exclusive talks with Zain to acquire a 46 percent stake in the mobile group for US$13.7 billion. Vavasi is hoping to collaborate with BSNL, along with sister company MTNL, over the acquisition.
