US website TechCrunch reports that Google’s venture capital arm has made an unspecified investment in ngmoco, a leading developer of games for Apple’s iOS platform. ngmoco is apparently already profitable, and Google Ventures’ investment comes as part of a new funding round – “probably in the US$3 million-US$5 million range.”

While the investment has been made by Google’s investment arm rather than by the company itself, it was suggested that it may result in an increased focus on Android for ngmoco – its performance in this market has previously been somewhat lacklustre. Specialist website MCV says that how Apple will react to Google investing in one of the most successful iOS developers is “another question altogether.”
