China Mobile – the world’s largest operator by subscribers – has said it is open to the possibility of selling Apple’s high-profile iPhone device. In January the operator was reported to have called off talks with Apple after it was unable to agree on revenue sharing terms. China Mobile Chief Executive Wang Jianzhou today told Reuters that the company has “not yet officially begun talks with Apple over the iPhone problem.” The Chief Executive added, “as long as our customers want this kind of product, we will keep all options open.”
Initial reports of a potential deal between the two companies helped Apple’s stock climb more than 10% on November 13 last year. China Mobile’s 370 million subscriber base is more than the population of the US.
