AT&T chief executive Randall Stephenson says the company is on course for a record quarter for “integrated device” (smartphone) sales, which was attributed to handsets including Apple’s iPhone 4, Research In Motion’s BlackBerry Torch and Samsung’s Captivate (a Galaxy S variant). Reuters reports that around half-a-million iPad devices are connected to AT&T’s network, which was deemed low, as Apple sold 3.27 million of the devices in the second quarter alone – although this fails to take into account availability of a Wi-Fi only iPad variant, and that the tablet is also available from operators other than AT&T globally.
