Apple and Google have both made bids of between US$150 million and US$250 million for the 1,100 digital patents owned by Eastman Kodak, well below the asking price, according to a Wall Street Journal source. Kodak is selling the patents, which it values at US$2.6 billion, in order to repay creditors following its bankruptcy. Nortel Networks sold its patent portfolio in 2011 for US$4.5 billion after initial bids of US$900 million.
