India’s Bombay High Court today deferred a hearing on Vodafone’s dispute with the Indian tax office, a spokesman for the UK-based operator group said, reports Reuters. The court has not specified a new date for a further hearing. Vodafone had filed a writ with the court last October, disputing the tax office move to treat it as an agent of the seller in its 2007 acquisition of Hutchison Whampoa’s mobile business in India. Vodafone is contesting a US$2.5 billion tax bill related to the acquisition.
