US operator AT&T will today launch Research In Motion’s (RIM) high-profile BlackBerry Bold after months of delay. The device will be available from US$299.99 in AT&T retail stores nationwide as well as the operator’s other sales channels. A statement from the operator notes that customers with unlimited data plans also qualify for free AT&T Wi-Fi service. Unveiled in May, RIM’s Bold was the vendor’s first HSDPA device. The device has since launched in much of Europe, Canada and the UAE, but a US launch was pushed back several times as AT&T continued to test the product.

Meanwhile further details are beginning to emerge on the forthcoming launch of RIM’s first touchscreen device – Storm – by exclusive first operators Verizon Wireless and Vodafone Group. A statement from Vodafone UK said the device is now available for pre-order and will be available free to UK customers on a two-year, £35 a month contract. A Dow Jones Newswires report states that Vodafone aims to have the device in subscriber hands by November 11, although it is not certain whether that date is specific to its UK customers only.
