Indian firm iKaaz is partnering with a Kenyan financial institution to offer NFC-based products to its customers.

Run by Ex-Nokia staffers, iKaaz has linked up Kenya’s Family Bank following a similar partnership earlier in the year to enter the Nigerian market with a local bank.

iKaaz’s NFC-based reader can turn a standard feature phone into a credit card reader, while it also offers an NFC sticker that can be added to any phone so it can initiate payments.

The firm is also one of the leading mobile payment firms in India.

It was set up by a number of former executives of Nokia Money, which was closed by the Finnish company in 2012. The founder and CEO of iKaaz is Soma Sundaram, himself a former employee of Nokia.
