The much-hyped home base station femtocell market has been tipped to reach 21.4 million subscribers in Western Europe by 2010, according to new research from Frost & Sullivan. The research house also estimates 10.7 million femtocell deployments in the region by that date. By 2011, Frost & Sullivan expects the market to reach 39.4 million femtocell subscribers with 15.8 million deployments.

Yesterday TeliaSonera revealed it has chosen two vendors for two femtocell trials this Spring. Mobile Business Briefing has previously reported that T-Mobile, Vodafone, Orange France, Sprint Nextel, Telefonica and Japan’s Softbank are all either trialling, or have commercially launched, the technology.
