Apple will next week (14 July) launch its mobile payment service in the UK, its first foray outside its US home market, according to 9to5mac.

The US giant had already said Apple Pay would come to the UK in July, without being more specific on dates.

The report quotes a number of retail sources to back up its claim. In addition to telling some of its own retail staff that Apple Pay will launch on that date, a leaked memo from supermarket Waitrose, plus an additional retailer, repeat the same date.

Of course, it’s possible other retail partners will have different start dates but it appears that 14 July is significant, at least for some of them.

The UK is the second launch market after the US for Apple Pay. Where the mobile payment service turns up next has not been revealed, although Canada is in the frame, along with Australia, China and South Korea.
