Mexican media company MVS Comunicaciones is planning to build-out an LTE network in Mexico, Reuters reports. The strategy still needs approval from the country’s regulators, and could require an initial investment of US$1 billion. The build will be supported by Clearwire and Intel, who have previously been among the main proponents of the alternative WiMAX technology. Other interested parties reportedly include Mexican operator Alestra, Japanese operator KDDI and, if approval is granted, “two Korean partners may step in too.”
