Tele 2’s 3.7 million Swedish mobile customers will soon have access to local media firm MTG’s online streaming service, thanks to a new partnership.

From the end of January 2015, both new and existing Tele2 Sweden customers will have the option to include MTG’s Viaplay in their subscription.

Tele2 said 4G is making possible an improved user experience. Its subscribers will be able to watch Viaplay’s offerings, including TV series, live sports and movies, without loading interruptions, it said.

Over the last year, Viaplay has signed a number of agreements with consumer platforms such as Samsung, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Chromecast, in order to increase the availability of the service.

Viaplay is available on a wide range of internet connected devices including personal computers, tablets, mobile phones, smart TVs and gaming consoles.

Jørgen Madsen Lindemann , president and CEO at MTG, said “great content and consumer choice is the key to success. This partnership marries constant availability and content for our customers.”

The partnership with Tele2 is the first of its kind for Viaplay, said MTG.

Lars Torstensson, EVP communication and strategy at Tele 2, said that partnership programmes are important in order to make use of Tele 2’s 4G network and modern billing capabilities and improve customer experience.
