Ericsson was awarded an AU$1 billion (US$1.1 billion) deal to build and operate a 2.3GHz fixed-wireless network using LTE technology, as part of the Australian government’s National Broadband Network project. The network will deliver download speeds of 12Mbit/s and upload speeds of 1Mbit/s to subscribers in rural Australia, marking a “significant” improvement compared to existing broadband services.
