Xiaomi showcased its previously-announced Mi Note Pro in China, describing it as the “gold standard for smartphones”.

The high-spec device goes on sale on 12 May in the country, priced at CNY2999 ($484).

Mi Note Pro has a 5.7-inch QHD (2560×1440) display, and features 13MP (Sony-sourced) rear and 4MP front cameras and 64GB of storage.

The company also described it as a “performance best”, powered by an octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 4GB of RAM.

Against a backdrop of doubt over the heat generated by this chip – Samsung opted not to use it in its Galaxy S6, while it has also been implicated in the lukewarm response received by HTC’s One M9 – Xiaomi also said that it has “solved heating issues” so the device remains cool.

Mi Note Pro has a large 3090mAh battery. And included on the spec sheet is category 9 LTE and 802.11ac Wi-Fi support.
