A post on the Nokia Developer website said that daily download requests on the Ovi Store “recently soared to 7.62 million,” crossing the 7 million milestone for the first time, and beating a previous record, “set only a few days earlier,” by 840,000 downloads. It said that the growth follows the global removal of the registration/login requirement to download free items from the mobile web channel, with the biggest increase coming from India. In its results conference call last week, Nokia said that the store was seeing daily downloads of 6.5 million with more than 50,000 apps available.
