Amazon introduced a new way for Android app developers to make money: by selling digital and physical goods found on Amazon.com within their apps.

The Amazon Mobile Associates API allows developers to connect their apps (including those for the Amazon Kindle tablet) to the millions of items sold via the company’s e-commerce arm, earning advertising fees of up to 6 per cent in the process.

Developers can sell a single item from within their app or game, showcase a category of goods related to their app’s function, or bundle the purchase of a physical item with digital content within the app.

When users select to make a purchase, they will see a dialogue box, including product details and cost, before having the option to buy the item using Amazon’s 1-Click purchase tool.
