China Mobile expects to continue adding around six million new subscribers a month in 2008 and has not ruled out the possibility of offering the iPhone to its customer base. The world’s largest operator in terms of subscribers – according to Wireless Intelligence, the company had 365 million customers at the end of Q4 2007 – expects to continue to see very large demand for its services this year following six million additions per month in 2007. “This year we think we can keep the growth,” Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Wang Jianzhou told CNBC.

Wang added that, despite press reports, the company is still willing to have discussions with Apple about selling the iPhone in China. “We’ve not started any formal negotiations with Apple. The door is open to all for discussions about fashionable phones.”
