US regulator the Federal Communications Commission jas approved the first Long Term Evolution (LTE) handset for sale in the country, paving the way for a commercial launch of the Samsung SCH-R900. The device has previously been linked with regional operator MetroPCS, which is looking to beat Verizon Wireless to be the first operator in the US to launch LTE services during the second half of 2010.
