ATM vendor NCR has agreed to buy mobile banking firm Digital Insight for $1.65 billion.

The purchase of Digital Insight, controlled by private-equity firm Thoma Bravo, is expected to be wrapped up in Q1 2014.

Digital Insight’s customer base comprises more than 1,000 financial institutions with 12 million online banking users and nearly 4.8 million mobile end-users.

The acquisition, claimed NCR, will provide it with an opportunity to offer clients additional solutions for mobile, bill pay and online banking.

NCR has also completed the purchase of Alaric Systems Limited, a provider of secure transaction switching and fraud prevention software, for around $84 million.

The two acquisitions together, said NCR, will beef up the company’s enterprise software platform to enable transactions across a variety digital and physical channels, including mobile, online, branch and ATM.
