French device vendor Archos announced a “new line of 4G smartphones”, which it said offer “HD screens, IPS image quality and 4G dual-SIM connectivity”, with prices starting at £119.

The Helium Plus line has two smartphones – 50 Helium Plus (pictured) and 55 Helium Plus – with 5.0-inch and 5.5-inch 720 pixel HD screens. Both devices are powered by quadcore 64-bit MediaTek processors, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage (expandable via microSD slot).

Also included is support for Archos’ Fusion Storage technology, unveiled at Mobile World Congress this year, which “optimises data storage by fusing internal memory with external microSD card memory”.

Other features of the line include 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras.

The company said it has “refreshed the style of its Helium line through new, sleeker designs and ‘glass effect’ finishing”. Black and white versions are available.

“The Archos 50 Helium Plus and the Archos 55 Helium Plus reflect Archos’ mission to democratise 4G technology and to offer its clients better performance at affordable prices,” said Loic Poirier, CEO of the company.
