Cloud-based app security company Veracode acquired the assets of Marvin Mobile Security, which it describes as “the developer of an innovative mobile app analysis service for enterprises, app stores and mobile carriers”.

The acquired technology performs mobile app testing and returns detailed reports on all aspects of capabilities and behaviour, including malware detection, the potential for data leakage and privacy loss.

It is said to complement Veracode’s existing mobile offering, which is focused on the security requirements of the mobile app development lifecycle.

Using the technology, app stores and enterprises will be able to vet mobile apps before accepting them, or integrate this capability with existing mobile device management and mobile application management platforms.

Terms of the deal were not revealed.
