Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said Microsoft needs to do better in the market for tablet computers now that Apple has found success with the iPad, according to The Wall Street Journal. Mr Ballmer said Microsoft is working closely with hardware partners to improve the quality of tablet devices that run Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system. Meanwhile Hewlett-Packard has said it will use Windows 7 in a tablet exclusively for enterprises, while making a consumer-oriented unit based on the WebOS platform it gained from its acquisition of Palm.
