The Taipei Times said that Taiwan’s National Communications Commission had said that operators in the country could not use core network equipment from Huawei, due to concerns over national security. It was noted that a number of telcos, including Asia-Pacific Telecom, Vibo, Taiwan Mobile and Far EasTone, have bought equipment from the vendor, but that some products are now being held by the customs authorities. It was noted that Huawei could lose “millions of US dollars” worth of business, as the operators switch to new suppliers.
