David Wang (pictured), president of wireless networks at Huawei, reckons the size of the firm’s 4G network business will double to $4 billion in 2014.

Quoted by Reuters, Wang also anticipates Huawei’s revenue from the overall wireless market to reach $12.9 billion next year, up from $11.7 billion this year.

Huawei’s sales will no doubt be helped massively by increased 4G spending in its home market.

Earlier this month, China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) awarded its first batch of 4G licences (TD-LTE) to China Mobile, China Telecom and China Unicom.

LTE FDD licence awards are slated for next year.

The scale of 4G investment in China is enormous. China Mobile, the country’s largest mobile operator, announced in March it would plough nearly $7 billion this year in rolling out 4G in anticipation of receiving licences.
