Dutch satellite navigation and mapping company TomTom is shifting its focus from personal navigation devices to mobile mapping services and in-car satnav systems as it strives to restore growth and profit. TomTom provides real time traffic services through smartphone apps and Internet-connected devices as well as mapping data to businesses. The personal navigation devices division has been suffering from a loss of sales and profits as consumers choose free or cheap navigation software for smartphones and tablet computers.
