The world’s biggest mobile operator in terms of connections, China Mobile, has announced its fifth-round TD-SCDMA equipment tender, as it looks to expand its 3G coverage in county-level cities and other urban areas, reports market intelligence firm Marbridge Consulting. The total number of TD-SCDMA base stations belonging to China Mobile is expected to reach 300,000 by the end of 2012. Mobile network equipment makers will be able to place their bids next week.
