South Korean number two operator KT has chosen Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) to implement LTE services on re-farmed 1.8Ghz CDMA spectrum. The LTE service will help meet growing demand for mobile broadband and smartphone data services and should be available by mid-2012. “Re-use of spectrum has become all the more vital due to its limited availability and the increasing use of smartphones and rich applications,” said NSN’s head of Asia Pacific region Paul Tyler.
