The number of bada apps downloaded from the Samsung Apps store has passed 110 million, with 8.1 million devices now running the OS developed by the South Korean tech giant, reports Mobile Entertainment.

Samsung presented figures at its bada developer conference in London, also revealing that around 5 percent of downloads (5.3 million) were made in the UK.

The first bada handset was launched in June 2010 and Samsung has said it expects the OS to make up 17 percent of sales in the UK next year.

According to recent figures, Samsung is now the biggest smartphone vendor in the world with 28 million smartphones shipped in Q3 2011, of which bada-based devices made up 6 percent.
