Apple has begun to publish weekly charts of the most downloaded paid and free apps from its UK App Store in collaboration with the Press Association, the Guardian reports. The chart is based on sales for the previous seven days although actual figures aren’t revealed.

Although there are charts accessible through the App Store, these are based on a number of hours, rather than the weekly totals, which give a more standard picture of the most popular apps.

The first chart was published for the week ending 20 November. The Paid iPhone apps listing was topped by Dekovir Amazing Breaker, while the free iPhone app chart was topped by Ming Liang Chien's Hardest Game Ever. Apple Pages topped the iPad paid app list, with the Sky Movies app topping the free chart. Four out of the top 10 paid apps on the iPad were developed by Apple itself.
