Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said he would “love to work with Google” to help connect more people to the internet, in an interview with Bloomberg.

Zuckerberg (pictured) believes “Connecting everyone is going to be something that no single company can do by themselves… People need to be able to search and find information.”

Facebook has been working on drones and satellite technology to develop “new platforms for connectivity on the ground, in the air and in orbit”, as part of its Internet.org initiative to make the internet available and affordable to unconnected people, while Google’s Project Loon involves solar-powered transmitters attached to helium balloons to provide internet access to the developing world.

Zuckerberg has said he wants to spend billions on the project without expecting returns, at least in the short term.

With more people getting online, both companies can benefit from each other’s initiatives.
