The Vietnamese authorities have approved applications from five companies looking to run pilot “4G” networks in the country, according to local reports, with one-year permits being issued for the test deployments before a full spectrum allocation takes place. The licences, granted to Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT), Viettel Telecom, FPT Telecom, CMC and VTC, are technology-neutral.
