Russian operator group MTS said it may sell its stake in Belarus affiliate MTS-Belarus, should the government of the country go-ahead with a plan to sell its 51 percent stake in the venture. It has been reported that the two parties have previously been unable to agree a price for the holdings in private talks. According to Reuters, MTS has mooted putting its stake on the market at the same time as the government  sale, using the same valuation – although the US$1 billion figure suggested by the government for its 51 percent has already been dismissed by some observers as being well above its true value.
