Monitise, the UK mobile money provider, has reported revenues of £36.1 million in its financial year to the end of June 2012, a more than doubling from the £15.3 million in revenues it reported last year.  However despite gross margin increases, the company saw net losses widen to £16.4 million from £14.5 million in 2011.

The company, which says it has nearly quadrupled registered customer numbers to 17 million over the past year, predicts Ebitda breakeven by September 2013, a progression by one quarter on the advice provided a year ago. Group ebitda losses stood at £10.4 million for end-June 2012.

In a separate announcement, Monitise said its joint venture with Hong Kong-based investment firm First Eastern has signed an MoU with Bank of China (Hong Kong) to work together on mobile payments. The joint venture is called Monitise Asia Pacific Hong Kong.

Monitise has also been approached by a number of unnamed global technology companies interested in reselling its mobile money platform, it said.
