Telecompaper reports that Hong Kong regulator Ofta has decided on plans for an auction of radio frequency rights in the 850, 950 and 2000MHz bands. Of the total 29.7MHz in spectrum to be released, interested parties can bid on 2 x 5 MHz in the 850 MHz band (Block A), 2 x 5 MHz in the 900 MHz band (Block B) and 9.7 MHz in the 2 GHz band (Blocks C1 and C2). The auction will be open to both existing mobile operators and new entrants, with no restrictions on the amount of spectrum a single bidder can acquire.
