Everything Everywhere announced the departure of Tom Alexander as its CEO, who has stepped-down “for personal reasons and to pursue other interests.” Alexander will leave the company at the end of August 2011, but will continue to advise the company until the end of the year. In a statement, he said that: “there is never an easy time to leave a company that you care deeply for but, for personal reasons, I feel now is a good moment to step back.” Prior to joining Orange UK in 2008, Alexander led UK MVNO Virgin Mobile until 2006.

Alexander is being replaced by Olaf Swantee (pictured), who is currently EVP of operations (Europe, except France) and sourcing for France Telecom. Swantee has been on the board of Everything Everywhere since it was created through the merger of Orange UK and T-Mobile UK last year. Swantee was also “instrumental” in the creation of a global procurement alliance by France Telecom and Deutsche Telekom, the parents of EE.
