Italian mobile group WIND has won consent from a majority of bondholders to refinance about EUR6.5 billion in debt as it prepares for a proposed acquisition by VimpelCom, one of the banks leading the deal said Friday, reports Dow Jones Newswires. The noteholders have also waived the change of control clause paving the way for the acquisition of WIND by Russian telecoms operator VimpelCom. Without this waiver, VimpelCom would have to buy back the debt at a premium, a person familiar with the situation said.
