Dow Jones Newswires reports that the government of Belarus is looking to sell its 51 percent stake in mobile operator MTS for US$1 billion, based on comments from its president, Alexander Lukashenko. The country is reported to have previously offered the stake to MTS, its partner in the venture, although a deal was not reached. The report suggests that the current figure is “at least 40 percent” above what the stake would sell for, even if sold at a premium.
